I never know what to say when people ask "what do you do?"
I've dedicated large portions of my life to different things — filmmaking, music, design. Now I spend my time trying to combine everything I've gleaned from those different arts into one offering. Write a song for a client, write and art direct a video to accompany it, direct and shoot or animate and edit the video, design the webpage or DVD it will end up on. That's one example.
The problem is that no matter what term I try and pin onto what I do, it doesn't tell the whole story. That's why I usually just tell people I don't have a job.
Recently, I was invited to join the staff at the Brighton Agency here in St. Louis... so I'm now happy to be working under the title of Multimedia Director. I think that title is a pretty good fit for what I do, and it prevents me from needing a 10-page business card/pamphlet.
