12.11.08 | i'm finally about to push the new site live, but let's just take a quick moment here to discuss what i'm up to musically. we've all but put the final stamp on the new jonathan cour album (myself, jonathan cour and jason mcentire producing), and although the release date is TBA right now, its coming soon, and will be featured here on the site.
it's a really cool record... lots of atmospheric stuff and 'found sounds' all over it. right near the beginning of the recording process, i moved my home and studio into the city and it wasn't long before i discovered how much i loved layering in traffic noise. i'd open up my window while recording and put up a mic and the result was always random, but generally pretty cool once tucked in with the music just right. on occasion, i would even walk down the street with a mini recorder and just record ambience for later use. layering vocals was another thing we did with pleasure... the last track on the record consists of something like 24 tracks of vocals by the end, which is just plain silly, yes, but does it ever sound cool. |
